Every Member of the Petroleum Dealers Association Has the Freedom of Expression: Malik Khuda Bakhsh

KARACHI (October 5, 2026): Chairman of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA), Malik Khuda Bakhsh, has said that the present leadership of the association does not delay in resolving dealers’ issues on a priority basis. Every member of the association now has the freedom to express his views. Petroleum dealers have played a significant role in making Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Fuel Relief Package successful, and petroleum dealers across the country are implementing the package.

He expressed these views while speaking at a dinner hosted by PPDA Vice Chairman Anwar Kamal in honour of journalists. PPDA Vice Chairman Malik Sher Khan and Tariq Hassan were also present on the occasion.

Malik Khuda Bakhsh said that Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has assured the PPDA that the consultation process with the association will be further accelerated and made more effective in the future. “We also believe that issues can only be resolved through mutual consultation. We will continue to support all positive policies of the government, but the government must also fulfill the commitments it has made to the leadership of the petroleum dealers,” he said.

Responding to a question regarding the government’s EV policy, Malik Khuda Bakhsh said that the more facilities and incentives the government provides for electric vehicles and EV charging infrastructure, the more Pakistan can reduce its dependence on imported fuel. He said that in a country like Pakistan, promoting solar energy and electric vehicles would not only help reduce dependence on imported fuel but could also help bring down the rising costs of petrol and electricity.

Malik Khuda Bakhsh further said that the PPDA wants to resolve all issues through negotiations. Through cooperation and consultation with oil marketing companies, the association will seek to reach decisions that are acceptable to both petroleum dealers and oil marketing companies.

Malik Sher Khan said that the issues faced by dealers cannot be continuously ignored, as the sector is linked to the businesses of thousands of entrepreneurs and provides employment to millions of people.

Anwar Kamal said that petroleum dealers are playing an important role in the country’s economy and energy sector. However, rising costs, various charges, imbalances in rents and other issues are making it increasingly difficult for dealers to continue their businesses.

Tariq Hassan said that the PPDA would not compromise on the legitimate rights and interests of dealers. He reiterated the commitment that the legitimate interests of petroleum dealers across the country would be protected at all costs, while practical measures would be taken to resolve their issues and concerns through continuous consultation with oil marketing companies.
