Pakistan EV and Solar Expo Draws Strong Attention to Electric Vehicles and EV Chargers

KARACHI, September 3, 2026: Electric vehicles and solar technology attracted significant public attention on the first day of the Pakistan EV and Solar Expo at the Karachi Expo Centre. The exhibition featured electric motorcycles and cars, along with electric rickshaws, which emerged as a particular attraction for visitors. A noticeable increase in demand for EV chargers was also witnessed at the exhibition.
The first day of the Pakistan EV and Solar Expo in Karachi showcased a wide range of solar panels, solar inverters, electric motorcycles, electric rickshaws and different types of EV chargers for the public. A large number of citizens showed keen interest in electric motorcycles, while the electric rickshaw also remained a major attraction. The exhibition also witnessed a significant increase in demand for fast chargers for electric vehicles.
Chairman Malik Group Mr. Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Pakistan’s civil distributor of electric fast chargers, said that demand for EV chargers was rapidly increasing across the country. He said the company had been given a target to install 3,000 EV chargers across Pakistan within three years, while the Sindh government had also placed a major order for the installation of electric chargers. “We have the best varieties of chargers from around the world. In particular, 80kW, 120kW and 160kW chargers, along with other types, are being displayed at the exhibition. We also have EV chargers and DC chargers used for vehicles,” he said.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh said the future belonged to electric vehicles, adding that the EV sector was rapidly developing and vehicles of all types were now entering the Pakistani market. He said that promoting solar energy and electric vehicles in a country like Pakistan could not only help reduce the rising costs of petrol and electricity but also reduce dependence on imported fuel.
Meanwhile, Haris Khan, CEO of an electric rickshaw manufacturing company, said the price of the electric rickshaw had been set at approximately Rs1 million. The vehicle can travel around 120 kilometres on a single charge, while its battery takes approximately four to five hours to fully charge.
According to the company, the electric rickshaw has already been introduced in Karachi and will be available to consumers within the next 30 days.
