Leadership Continuity at HBL

Nassir Salim originally took the helm of HBL in March 2024. He succeeded Muhammad Aurangzeb, who resigned from the position to serve as Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue. This latest move by the HBL Board signals a commitment to strategic continuity and stability within the country’s leading financial institution.

Who is Nassir Salim?

With a career spanning over 36 years, Nassir Salim is a veteran of the global banking industry, having held senior leadership roles in the USA, Middle East, and Pakistan.

Since joining HBL in 2017, he has served as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Head of Branch & Islamic Banking, and Head of Global Operations.

He holds an MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, where he was a gold medalist.

Nassir Salim is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Pakistan and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Banks’ Association (PBA).

HBL’s Market Position

Under Salim’s leadership, HBL has continued to focus on digital transformation and expanding its footprint in Islamic Banking and Zarai (Agriculture) Services. As a “Systemically Important Bank” in Pakistan, HBL’s leadership decisions are closely watched by investors at the PSX and international financial observers.
