How Motorcycle Owners Can Register Digitally for Fuel Subsidy

The Chief Minister of Sindh Announced The Procedure For Monthly Petroleum Subsidy Of Rs2,000 For Motorcycle Riders.

Karachi (April 6): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced a monthly subsidy of Rs2,000 for motorcycle riders. During a media briefing at the Chief Minister House, he said that in order to protect citizens from rising fuel prices and inflation, the government has launched a digital registration system under a targeted motorcycle fuel subsidy program, along with a broader relief package.

Murad Ali Shah said that the subsidy initiative is part of a comprehensive targeted subsidy framework aimed at providing direct financial assistance to vulnerable segments of society while ensuring economic stability and transparency. Provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon, Nasir Hussain Shah, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, and Murtaza Wahab were also present on the occasion.

Under the scheme, every registered motorcycle owner will receive Rs2,000 per month, which is equivalent to a subsidy on approximately 20 liters of fuel. The Chief Minister clarified that only motorcycles registered in the owner’s own name will be eligible for the facility.

Explaining the procedure for obtaining the subsidy, the Chief Minister said that the Excise and Taxation Department has introduced an online verification and registration system through which citizens can verify ownership and submit digital applications. Applicants will be required to provide their CNIC number and bank account IBAN, after which they will receive automated verification.

To facilitate the public and provide further relief, the government has abolished the Rs500 fee previously charged for motorcycle ownership transfer. In addition, excise offices across Sindh will remain open from 8:00 am to 12:00 midnight, including Saturdays and Sundays, for the next 15 days. So far, nearly 1,500 motorcycles have been transferred to their rightful owners’ names.

A helpline has also been established for applicants’ guidance at 021-111-374-634.

The Chief Minister also announced that a Rs3 billion farmers’ subsidy program would be launched later this week to provide financial assistance to small farmers.

Overall, under the targeted subsidy framework, Rs13.4 billion has been allocated for the bike subsidy program, Rs14.3 billion per month for transport subsidies (with the cooperation of the federal government), Rs3 to Rs4 billion for fare stabilization, and Rs3 billion for farmers.

The Chief Minister said the government is also working on mechanisms to provide direct relief on essential commodities, particularly flour and other food items.

He added that the initiative would promote financial inclusion by encouraging citizens to open bank accounts for direct payments, while also utilizing systems developed during post-flood rehabilitation efforts. He emphasized that the subsidy program is being operated through a fully transparent digital system to ensure that only deserving individuals benefit from it.
