Pakistan’s largest life insurer posts 120% surge in bonuses, reinforces leadership in financial security and savings
Five-year performance highlights robust asset growth, rising premiums, and expanded social impact initiatives
ISLAMABAD: The State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan has officially announced a record-breaking PKR 152 billion in bonuses for its policyholders, marking a historic milestone that highlights the corporation’s immense financial strength and its unwavering commitment to providing long-term value. This massive payout includes an Annual Profit Bonus of PKR 129.579 billion alongside a special State Life Khushali Bonus of PKR 22.12 billion. The total figure represents a staggering 120% increase compared to the previous year, reflecting a 27% year-on-year growth rate that cements the corporation’s role as a pillar of the national economy.
According to official statements, State Life continues to distribute 97.5% of its surplus directly back to its policyholders. This policyholder-centric model has become increasingly vital as traditional savings avenues in Pakistan face the twin pressures of inflation and economic volatility. The announcement serves as a significant indicator of growing public trust in the institution as a resilient haven for protection and savings.
The corporation’s financial trajectory over the last five years reveals a period of aggressive and successful expansion. Between 2021 and 2025, total assets surged by 111% to reach approximately PKR 2.5 trillion according to unaudited figures. During this same window, total premium income climbed by 141% while investment income saw a remarkable growth of 236%. Perhaps most notably, new business premiums expanded by 455%, signaling a massive influx of new clients seeking financial security. In 2025 alone, the corporation paid out claims totaling PKR 236 billion, further demonstrating its operational capacity to meet obligations.

Beyond financial metrics, State Life has significantly increased its footprint in the realm of social protection. Its flagship Social Health Program now provides coverage to over 180 million people, making it one of the largest health initiatives in the country’s history. This transition from a traditional insurer to a broader social welfare partner is supported by a robust commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance standards. Recent initiatives include the digitization of over 20 million policy files, the planting of more than 64,000 trees, and the adoption of solar energy across its operations. Public health efforts have also been prioritized, with over 130,000 women screened for breast cancer and 185,000 citizens tested for diabetes nationwide.
Looking toward the remainder of 2026, the corporation plans to accelerate its digital transformation and introduce more inclusive financial products. Strategic priorities for the coming year include the expansion of retirement and pension schemes, featuring Pakistan’s first Shariah-compliant pension plan. The leadership also intends to broaden the reach of microinsurance and enhance data-driven customer service platforms to ensure regulatory alignment and governance.
Commenting on the record-breaking results, Shoaib Javed Hussain, CEO of State Life, emphasized that assurance is something delivered rather than just spoken. He noted that the latest policyholder profit bonus is a direct reflection of the corporation’s discipline and its mission to provide financial certainty when it matters most. With these record payouts and a growing social footprint, State Life Insurance Corporation continues to solidify its position as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s financial security framework, signaling a future defined by innovation and enhanced protection for millions of families across the country.
